The first public performance of material from Cloned! was in January 2011, when “Sharon Stone” was performed by Adam Spiegel as part of The Spiegel and Wolpow Comedy Hour (& a Half!) at the Laurie Beechman Theater.

“Sharon Stone” was chosen to be part of an evening of songs from new musicals called The Importance of Being Not So Earnest, produced by Rachel Dart, and sung by Max Spitulnik at the Parkside Lounge in March 2011.

An informal table reading of the first act took place in the fall of 2011.  The cast included F. Michael Haynie, George Carruth, Emily Pinas, Ian Campbell Dunn, John Fitzgibbons, JaNelle Meyers, Whitney Kam Lee, Dottie Bris-Bois, and Melissa Zimmerman.

At the beginning of July 2012, the New York Theater Barn produced an evening of songs by Spiegel and Wolpow for their NYTB At The D-Lounge series. Entitled Send In The Clones: The Songs of Spiegel & Wolpow!, the performance was directed by Nick Brennan and featured the songs “Sharon Stone,” “I Don’t Know What To Say,” “Jørgensen,” “Anyone Other Than You,” and “Me and My Clone.”  It featured Paul Resigno as Wally,  Robbie Resigno as Clone Wally, Jacey Powers as Izzy, and Melissa Zimmerman as Evelyn.

In July 2012, a private reading was held at Ripley-Grier Studios directed by Rachel Dart and Chris Blacker served as music director.

In November 2012, NEXT (Now Entering The Crossroads of Theatre) produced an evening of music by composer Adam Spiegel, which featured the songs “Sharon Stone,” sung by Raja Burrows, “I Don’t Know What To Say,” sung by Cristina Faicco, and the cut song “Typical Neighborhood Movie Star,” sung by Stevi Incremona.

In February 2013, the show was performed as part of the York Theatre’s Developmental Reading Series. It was directed by Rachel Dart and musically directed by Joe Kinosian.

In July 2013, Cloned! was selected to appear in the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) as part of the Developmental Reading Series. The production was directed by Tom Wojtunik and musically directed by Sam Schull.  More information about the NYMF production can be found here. On November 10th, 2013, Cloned! was awarded with NYMF’s 2013 Developmental Reading Award and officially announced as the first “Next Link” participant in the 2014 Festival!
